Now, a new wellness programme is putting one of the island’s most important natural elements at the center of the experience: water.
The Season of Sacred Water, recently introduced at Four Seasons resorts in Jimbaran Bay and Sayan, combines wellness treatments, traditional Balinese practices, mindful movement, food and opportunities to simply slow down.
The programme draws inspiration from the importance of water in Balinese life — from traditional purification ceremonies to the subak irrigation systems that help sustain Bali’s famous rice terraces.
The experiences are available for bookings and stays through March 31, 2027, making them part of a longer seasonal programme rather than a short-term event.
A Different Kind of Bali Experience
For many visitors, a Bali holiday is about seeing as much as possible.
But there is another way to experience the island.
Instead of rushing from one attraction to another, guests can spend time listening to the ocean, learning about traditional Indonesian ingredients, enjoying gentle movement or simply resting in the middle of Bali’s natural surroundings.
Jimbaran Bay: Wellness Beside the Ocean
At Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, the experience is called Tides of Renewal.
The two-day programme combines gentle movement, traditional Indonesian wellness practices and treatments inspired by the sounds and atmosphere of the ocean.
Guests can take part in bamboo stretching and Hatha yoga, followed by a 120-minute Suara Jimbaran treatment at the Healing Village Spa.
- Daily breakfast
- Bamboo stretching
- Hatha yoga
- A 120-minute Suara Jimbaran treatment
- Afternoon tea
The Suara Jimbaran ritual combines the sound of the ocean with Balinese gong vibrations, along with a glass-stone massage and a hydrating rose and sandalwood facial.
The wider seasonal programme also offers guests opportunities to learn about jamu, a traditional Indonesian herbal drink, through hands-on experiences.
Sayan: An Hour to Simply Stop
In the lush Ayung River valley near Ubud, the experience takes a very different approach.
Flow into Stillness is designed around reflection and deep rest, using the sounds of the river and surrounding forest as part of the experience.
And one of its most unusual features is something that many people might immediately appreciate:
The Sacred Nap – 60 minutes of meditative rest in a suspended silk hammock overlooking the river valley.
The experience is accompanied by the natural sound of the Ayung River, creating an opportunity to step away from the noise and activity of everyday life.
The programme also includes a conversation about wellbeing with resident Wellness Mentor Ibu Fera, followed by the 120-minute Restu Bumi ritual at the Sacred River Spa.
That treatment incorporates traditional instruments, aromatic local herbs, spiritual cleansing practices and a warming massage using Indonesian moss agate.
More Than Just a Spa
What makes the programme particularly interesting is that it isn’t focused solely on massages and spa treatments.
Guests can also explore elements of Balinese and Indonesian culture through meditation, traditional herbal drinks and culinary experiences.
At Jimbaran Bay, guests can learn about jamu-making, while Sayan offers experiences involving traditional loloh herbal drinks and culinary activities.
The idea is simple: wellness doesn’t have to mean sitting inside a spa all day. It can also mean connecting with Bali’s food, traditions, landscape and natural rhythms.
Beach or River Valley?
The two locations offer visitors very different ways to experience Bali.
Jimbaran Bay
Best for: Ocean views, gentle movement, yoga, sound-based treatments and traditional Indonesian wellness experiences.
Sayan
Best for: River scenery, deep relaxation, meditation, reflection and escaping into Bali’s lush interior.
For someone who loves the sound of waves and the feeling of being near the ocean, Jimbaran Bay may be the natural choice.
For those looking for a quieter retreat surrounded by jungle and river scenery, Sayan offers something completely different.
A Good Match for Bali’s Slower Side
Bali’s appeal has never been limited to adventure or nightlife.
For many visitors, especially those looking for a longer stay or a more relaxed holiday, the island’s greatest attraction is its ability to encourage people to slow down.
The Season of Sacred Water fits naturally into that idea.
It brings together Bali’s scenery, traditions and wellness culture in a way that doesn’t require visitors to constantly be on the move.
A Wellness Experience Through March 2027
The Season of Sacred Water is available for bookings and stays from October 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027, with a minimum two-night stay for the two-day packages.
Additional experiences, including some culinary, herbal and spa activities, can be booked separately where applicable.
For travelers looking for a peaceful side of Bali, it is another reminder that the island offers much more than beaches, nightlife and sightseeing.
Sometimes, Bali is at its best when you simply slow down and let the island come to you.
Programme details, availability and experiences may change. Travelers should confirm current offerings directly with the resort before booking.
